It takes 17 muscles to smile and 42 muscles to frown.
It's much easier to smile than it is to frown! Smiles can be contagious. Try smiling today to everyone you meet and see how many people smile back at you!
The average duration of a single blink of the human eye is 0.3 seconds.
Blinking plays a very vital role in the protection of our eyes. The reason we have eyelids is to stop bacteria and rubbish from entering the eye and also to moisten the surface of the eyeball. We often blink because our eyes are dry or irritated.
Two main muscles control blinking and during the day these muscles blink away every two to ten seconds. Their job is too spread tears over the cornea — the surface of the eyeball. If we were to keep our eyes open all day, our eyeballs would dry up and dangerous bacteria or dirt could fall in and cause nasty infections.
The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps blood, that it could squirt blood 30 feet.
Your heart is a muscle that beats continuously with a pumping action. The heart sends your blood throughout your body providing the oxygen and nutrients it needs. It also carries away the waste that your body has to get rid of.
It's located a little to the left of the middle of your chest, and it's about the size of your fist. Sometimes you can feel your heart beating as it pumps the blood. Can you find your pulse?
It's important to eat healthy foods like fruits and vegetables and get a lot of exercise every day to keep your heart and other muscles strong.
Watching TV or playing video games will NOT help your heart. You must be physically active like running outdoors, taking a walk, playing sports, or mowing the grass, etc.
